Swedish Massage

I felt sooo exhausted these days – even though this week went pretty fast due to Bank Holiday on Monday but still… 

About two months ago I bought a voucher for a Swedish Massage @Groupon (I have already mentioned it in my previous blog entries that I buy regular vouchers *hahaha* - as I can’t mention it often enough that it’s a good way to discover and try out new things first without having to pay the full price).

I really enjoyed my message treatment – even though it wasn’t quite a 1h message (as it included the introduction and the aftercare consultation). But I guess – I received at least 30mins plus (as I didn’t watch the time).

I think I want to do these treatments more regular – maybe once per month – I know it’s quite pricey if it’s not on “offer” – but then again – it’s always worth to do something good for your body and soul.

 

If you live in Newcastle and want to treat yourself – my massager was called Justine – she is very friendly and is also the owner of “Beauty andthe Spa”.

My Body is now “Dtoxed” – Hence, I am ready to welcome September *hahaha*

French Manicure & Co

Don’t laugh if you read this – but it’s true – I got for the first time French manicure professionally done in a salon and that’s for free (instead of £25). And that by two staffs – right hand – left hand *hahaha* Thanks to a friend of mine, who recently has started to work there.

The whole process took about 40 to 45 minutes. First, my previous nail polish got removed. Then my nails got cut – very very short – I’ve never cut them that short before (kind of bit scared that it might cut a bit skin as well). Next step was to polish the cuticle. Kind of weird – as I’ve never got them look like this. Kind of “ugly” without the natural shine on it – but I was told that this was needed for the next steps. After that I got fake long white nails on them clued – before they got cut to the length I want, namely “short” *lol* Due to my office work, which is inevitable for me working with PC most of the time, I can’t afford to have these “super long” nails *lol*

Anyway, after that a layer was put on my 10 fingers to blend the fake nails with my real nails, before they got polished again.

At the end natural nail strengthen and transparent nail polished were applied with UV gel. This should lasts for up to 4 weeks – not bad the end result – what do you think?

I finished the evening with watching the movie IronMan 3. Before heading to the movie, my friend and I made a stop at YO-sushi *yummy*

I am not going to give a review about IronMan 3: to keep it short – as I’ve been asked by my friends whether it was worth or not worth seeing it. I would say yes (but not YES). The third part was definitely better than the second part. IronMan 2 was just disappointing. However, IronMan 1 is still the best from the trilogy (my point of view)...

Tiger Tiger Baby

Occasionally, I buy vouchers at Livingsocial.com or Groupon.co.uk – dunno if this saves me money or makes me to spend more *lol*

Anyway, I bought this voucher for Tiger Tiger last year. Originally, my plan was to go there around December – but things are always changing. 

The last day to redeem the voucher was on 24 March – So, I was just on time. I went there with qq today and booked a table at 6pm for 2.

The original value of the voucher was up to £63.80 (me saving up to 55% by paying £29)

Which include a welcome drink – starter – main course – desserts – I would say: not a bad deal *hehehe* Especially, I think because it was during a week day – we were the only person - before we finished our food some other guests arrived as well – but the whole time in-between – only us served by a “private” waiter *hahaha* What a nice atmosphere. Feels like we’ve booked the whole restaurant for ourselves as well~

As a welcome drink we were served with strawberry champagne cocktail – as a starter we choose “Pulled BBQ Pork Spring Roll” and “West Coast Hand Picked Crab Cakes”;

Main course “Salmon Supreme” and “6 Oz Prime Beefburger”;

Desserts “Chocolate Fudge Brownie” and “Ice Crème Sundae”.

I was making sure that each of us had ordered a different thing – so that we could share :)

In addition, we ordered a bottle red vine by the brand Ochagavia. The good thing is if one ordered any drinks between 5pm and 9pm – it’s happy hours – every drinks 50% OFF (from restaurant, bar, KTV)!! :) 

After all the yummy food – we decided to spend an hour in one of their private KTV – Lucky Voice – rooms. It's sooo cheap - as they don't charge per hour but per person. Each hour just £2.5 p.p. so makes us £5 in total (excl. the drinks). Ohhh what an amazing evening – feels like week-end :)

Tangyuan and FunFair

According to the Chinese Moon Calendar today is the last day of celebrating the Chinese New Year aka YuanXiao (元宵) (which is always on the 15^th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar). So, today would be 15.01.2013 instead of 24.02.2013 – bit confusing I know :)

As a way for celebrating this we eat TangYuan (汤圆), which is made of made from glutinous rice flour filled normally inside with black sesame, red bean, vegetable or even with meat (so should be something for anyone’s taste either sweet or salty). Due to its round shape it kind of symbolise a re-union (normally to family re-unions as it is eaten together with family)

 
I prefer it sweet:

small Tangyuan for breakfast: filled with 15x blake seasam and 15x red bean *yummy*yummy*

After breakfast qq and I went to Fun Fair. The entrance for each of us was £1.

It's not very big (even though it says that it has over 90 rides and attractions to choose from - but I didn't feel that I saw them all?!)

They opened from 15.Feb till 25.Feb. – so tomorrow is the chance to visit it (as it will be the last day all rides will only cost £1)

I got this cute little dolphin (left corner) as qq won the shoot game

After that we went home and eat – surprise... Tangyuan again :)

For those of you, who are interested in the “story” behind Tangyuan:

"According to a legend, in the Han Dynasty, there was a maid of honour who was called Yuanxiao. She missed her parents a lot but she could not leave the palace, therefore, she wept all the time and even wanted to turn to suicide. A minister knew her story and promised to help her. What Yuanxiao needed to do was to make lots of Tangyuans, which was the best cuisine she could make, in order to worship the god on 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar. Finally, Yuanxiao did a great job and the emperor was so contented; therefore, Yuanxiao was permitted to meet her parents, Tangyuan was named as Yuanxiao and the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar was considered to be Yuanxiao Festival."

omgee - it's snowing again (-.-)"

I couldn’t trust my own eyes when I saw THIS – this morning. Last night I went out for some drinks and came back late – however, I still (somehow) managed to get up at 7am!! And that’s the result after ~5h non-stop snowing… and it keeps snowing – omgee. February is almost over and it seems that spring is keep us waiting *cry* Anyway, Happy WEEK-END everyone!! ~
